Description

EV Protec DC Charger – 240KW

The EV Protec DC Charger – 240kW is a high-power direct current (DC) fast charging unit designed to provide rapid charging for electric vehicles (EVs). With a charging output of 240 kW, this charger is capable of charging EVs significantly faster than lower-power chargers, making it particularly useful for commercial charging stations, highway rest areas, or locations where quick turnover of EVs is essential.

Key Features and Specifications:

240 kW Charging Power:

  • 240 kW is considered ultra-fast charging and can recharge most modern EV batteries from 20% to 80% in around 20–30 minutes (depending on the vehicle’s battery capacity and the state of charge). This significantly reduces the time it takes to charge compared to lower-power chargers.
  • For EVs with larger battery capacities (e.g., long-range vehicles like the Tesla Model S Long Range or Audi e-tron), a 240 kW charger can provide substantial range in a short amount of time.

DC Fast Charging:

  • DC (Direct Current) charging is much faster than AC (Alternating Current) charging because DC chargers supply power directly to the EV’s battery, bypassing the vehicle’s onboard AC-to-DC converter (which is required for AC charging).
  • DC chargers are typically used for fast-charging stations, whereas AC chargers are more commonly used for home or slower public charging.
