VW Tire pressure monitoring sensor
The VW tire pressure monitoring sensor (TPMS) is a safety feature in Volkswagen vehicles that monitors the air pressure in each tire. It alerts the driver if any tire is significantly under-inflated, which can help prevent blowouts and improve fuel efficiency.
There are two main types of TPMS:
- Direct TPMS: This system uses sensors located in each tire to measure the air pressure directly. If the pressure drops below a certain threshold, the system triggers a warning light on the dashboard.
- Indirect TPMS: This system doesn’t use physical sensors in the tires. Instead, it monitors the rotation of the wheels using the ABS (anti-lock braking system) to detect changes in tire pressure based on differences in wheel speed.
